Do not give in to the cardiovascular trap. Sadly, if you believe in the “calories burned” counters that appear on many cardiovascular machines today, you are falling victim to one of the biggest frauds in weight loss.

Don’t think that you can just go “burn off a big meal” by running on a treadmill for an hour. A more reasonable option would be not to eat the second serving of pasta and place your attention on increasing your metabolism with weight training. Rather than wearing your body down with repetitive cardiovascular exercises, just say NO to cardio!

As soon as you realize how difficult it is to drop fat by doing cardio alone, you’ll discover how simple the weight loss is. The cardiovascular exercise study participants were divided into two groups. By the end of the year, the two teams’ participants regained an average of four pounds they had each lost. The bottom line is that the two groups gained an equal number of pounds. People were able to retain a large portion of their original weight loss on both of the diets. However, only 47% of the total number of subjects who started the study (180 in all) completed both parts. And that’s a lot of dropouts!

This shows you that the hardest thing about losing weight is getting people to stay with a diet, not the actual diet itself. That’s where planning, finding the right diet that works for you and social support, come in.

The saying “diets don’t work” is a politically-correct subterfuge that allows people to escape diets in the first place. The truth is, diets DO work, its the people that don’t. Keep searching for the ideal diet for you and your lifestyle. Don’t forget, even when you have found the proper diet, you’ll still need to put in hard work and dedication to see results.

Add short well balanced workouts — strength training, cardiovascular and stretching. Avoid monotonous, dull, continuous cardiovascular exercises and, then the results that you deserve will be a reality.
